Efrem Alemayehu, M.D. (Pediatrics) - Board Member

Efrem Alemayehu, MD, is a Board Member of Ethio-American Doctors Group, Inc. Dr. Alemayehu has had General and Pediatrics practice since July 1990 in Toronto, Canada. From 1983 to 1984, he was Vice Head at a World Health Organization (WHO) sponsored Acute Diarrheal Disease Treatment Center at the Ethio-Swedish Children's Hospital (ESCH), at Addis Ababa University.  He was also a Lecturer and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, Medical Faculty, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, from 1982 to 1984. From 1977 to 1979, he was a Medical Director and General Practitioner at Nekemte Regional Hospital, Ethiopia. From 1976 to 1977, he was a Medical Director and General Practitioner at Kebridehar Hospital, in Harar, Ethiopia. Dr. Alemayehuobtained his Medical Degree in 1976 from Addis Ababa University. In 1982, Dr. Alemayehu completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Ethio-Swedish Children’s Hospital (ESCH), at Addis Ababa University. The hospital had affiliation with Karloniska University, Stockholm, Sweden. In 1983, Dr. Alemayehu attended a two-week training course for Managers of National Programs for Control of Diarrheal Diseases in Nazaret, Ethiopia. In 1985, Dr. Alemayehu received a M.Sc. in Design, Measurement and Evaluation from the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University, in Ontario, Canada. In 1986, he was a Clinical fellow in the Division of Gastroenterology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario.  From 1987 to 1988, he was a Research Fellow in Geriatric Medicine at Chedoke Hospital, McMaster University.
