Based on survey results of members who attended the last Annual Meeting, EADG's Board has decided to hold the 2014 annual meeting in Addis Ababa from June 25-28, 2014. This is an exciting development: we will be on the ground to showcase our project and to mobilize other stakeholders in Ethiopia to enable us to accomplish our core mission: we will meet with government officials, potential investors, the local medical associations and groups, the international community and, also, witness the ground breaking of our project!

Tesfaye Fanta and Girma Tefera went to Ethiopia in November to tend to personal matters. We are grateful that they were able to accomplish several important tasks for EADG:

1.     Girma &SenaitFisseha met with about 20-25 prominent local physicians and discussed EADG’s objectives, how we can collaborate going forward and, also, to make it clear that we are open for local physicians to join us. It was a highly productive meeting and the dialogue will continue with our members who are in Ethiopia leading the effort.

I just returned from a one-week trip to Addis Ababa. I was accompanied by Willy Schlein, EADG's US-based architect. Overall, we had a very successful trip. Here is a brief update:

(1) We have started the geotechnical (civil, hydrological, soil, seismic, etc.) surveying of the land. We inspected the work being done by the Ethiopian geotechnical firm we hired. Our land is now fenced in and we have guards stationed.
